2/27/2017 0 Comments for the love of pinterestHow in the world did we find recipes or workouts or inspiration for decorating before Pinterest?
I am glad that I do not live in that universe! Ha As you can tell from the title of this blog I love Pinterest, Pinterest and I are old friends. Pinterest was launched in March of 2010 (thank you Google), my first memory of Pinterest was sophomore year of college so 2011/2012. All of my friends wanted to join Pinterest but in order to join you had to go on the waiting list or be invited by someone that was already a member. So once one of us got in we all got in and from there I was opened up to a whole new world. Fast forward 5 years later with 37 boards and close to 9,000 pins, the virtual world of pinning things you wanted to remember for later has come in handy a few times. If my life looked like my Pinterest boards I would be fabulous! https://www.pinterest.com/marissapatrice/

2/26/2017 0 Comments What's in my work bagLast week I wrote about my new Dagne Dover Landon Carryall bag that I use for work. Today I wanted to show all the things that I carry in it daily.
Lets work our why around the items. 1. Wallets, the green is my everyday wallet and the blue is my work wallet 2. Sunglasses and sunglass case 3. Lunch bag 4. Current book I'm reading 5. Shoes of the day (I currently wear Uggs on my commute and then bring whatever shoes I want to wear for the day) There is also a shoe bag that comes with the Landon Carryall that I have not yet utilized. 6. Shake cup (usually filled with a shake) 7. Gloves and headband 8. Random small items, pen, headphones, tissues, tampons 9. Daily planner 10. Umbrella 11. Car keys This all fits in there with plenty of room left. The bag can also be unbuttoned at the sides to make the bag larger (mine is still buttoned) 2/22/2017 0 Comments Bachelor REcap - week 8Hometowns
We started the episode not knowing if Nick was going to go on all four hometown dates. Then they showed a preview and we found out he went on all four dates. All the girls are freaking out about who he’s keeping and if anyone’s going home. Nick shows up and sits with the girls and give all four roses in the most relaxed rose ceremony ever. I liked that even though Raven already had a rose he offered another one because it had been a few days. On to meet the fam(s)! Raven’s Hometown Raven rolls up on a four wheeler and looks good doing it! I have never gone four wheeling and this date made me want to, it just looked like fun. Raven has been gaining points with me as the weeks go on and this week was no exception. She takes Nick to climb some grain bins because that’s what they do in Hoxie. As they are climbing the cops roll up, who tries to play a tough cop asking for some identification, but of course Nick does not have any because well he is filming a reality show. Funny joke but that cop is Ravens big brother, no wonder she was all calm and Nick was sweating it. They go back to four wheeling and make out in basically a swamp, it had a dirty Nicholas Sparks vibe to me. On to meet the parents, where her mom announces that her dad received news that he is cancer free! Which was a very sweet moment that Nick and the rest of bachelor nation got to share. They had the parent talks and both Raven’s parents were on board and trust her judgement. In the end Raven got a bit of cold feet or maybe the cat got her tongue, but she did not tell Nick she loved him like she wanted to. Rachel’s Hometown Okay so let’s all watch this and pretend we don’t know she’s the next Bachelorette. Nick has to be clued in to what they are going to be doing on these dates because he showed up to this date in button down and nice pants. So with that being said Rachel takes Nick to church. They both enjoyed themselves and Nick said that he wants church to be something that they can enjoy together. After they had a conversation about the fact that Rachel is black, Nick said that he was not color blind but liked her for the person she is not her color. On to the house, sadly Rachel’s dad could not attend the gathering, I was looking forward to meeting him. The main topic of discussion was interracial couples and how they would handle it vs. how the world handles it. I get that this needed to be discussed but Rachel’s brother in law is also white so this is not something that they are new too. I think how Nick handled all the conversations was perfect. Rachel’s mom went as far as to compare Nick to Rachel’s dad which blew Rachel away and meant a lot to her. Sadly, we do know that she is the next bachelorette, even though I am super excited for it, this date went great and I would have predicted she and Nick would end up together. Corinne’s Hometown Corinne planned a date for Nick based on her favorite activity, shopping! High end shopping to be exact. She buys Nick an outfit to wear to meet her parents and the bills runs up to over $3000 and she did not even blink an eye. Nick was bright red like any normal person would be, and for what they bought Nick could have gotten the items at any number of stores for way less! Corinne tells Nick that she loves him and I just feel like they have such a surface level relationship. On to meet RAQUEL, I mean the family! They sat down to dinner which Raquel served and then joined them for and Corinne told her family how the other girls made fun of her for having a nanny. Making it seem like the other girls called Raquel her nanny but it was Corinne who said that she has a nanny. Corinne’s dad passed around his own olives and they all watched as Nick ate one, it was a test, but in the end he liked the olive. Corinne’s dad asks her what Nick will do for a living and would Corinne be happy if she was the breadwinner and Nick was the stay at home parent, is everyone having a hard time imaging this? Okay good! Nick then talks to the important people in Corinne’s life her dad and Raquel, both approve and tell him to treat her right. Vanessa’s Hometown Vanessa took Nick to meet her students, she teaches special needs to students over 18. Seeing her students get so emotional over her return was so sweet and really shows how much love and work she puts in with the students. I did see that she has a IMBD page and was a bit skeptical but you cannot fake those student’s reactions. She had them make her and Nick a scrap book of their time together, I thought it was a bit odd to have her students look at picture of her kissing Nick in a bikini, but I’m not a teacher sooo. Vanessa’s parents are divorced and she’s really close to both so we are going to meet both, separately. First up moms side, which consisted of about 1595948505 members. Vanessa’s family was the most critical and asked the most questions, a lot that Nick did not have the answers too which concerned her family. The biggest one being where will they would live. On to Dad’s house, which did not go any smoother than her mom’s. When Nick asked for her hand in marriage her dad was not having it, he made a valid point where he said that Nick has asked 3 other families this same question. Vanessa’s dad told her what happened and it SHOCKED her that he asked all three other families, and she said it was a game changer. I guess Vanessa has never watched the past 1000 seasons of this show. No rose ceremony, AGAIN, come on. Then Andi shows up and I’ve always been and Andi fan but how she said hi to him when he opened the door made her seem so bitchy and it annoyed me. My prediction is that she will be giving him advice about choosing wisely, because she obviously did not with her pick, cough cough Josh. She does not want Nick back, she’s just there for ratings and they were in the city she lives so she didn’t have to go far. 2/20/2017 5 Comments Dagne Dover Bag REviewBrace yourselves for a long one, sorry! I have been at my new job since May and when starting this job, I had a major commute change. For my last job l got to drive the 45 minute commute in my little Mini Cooper. I would just throw whatever bags (yes plural) I was using in the car and head out. So my new job is in the city and I take the train so now it was a whole new playing field. Besides taking the train I park my car about a 5-minute walk from the station so I have to take footwear and weather a lot more seriously than when I just had to walk from my car to the front door. I think there are definitely some pros and cons to both commuting situations, but what I want to show you today is my bag situation. When I started the job I got myself a Longchamp, the ‘Large Le Pilage’ Tote in back. I am not new to Longchamps and have a few sitting around my room so I knew what I was getting. I liked that it would match everything, was not attention drawing and was large enough to fit what I needed (or so I thought). The Longchamp served its purpose for a few months and I started to notice that it was getting a bit cramped. So I began to search for new bag options. Does anyone else feel like Instagram and Facebook stalks not only your Google searches but also your conversations? Before I even began searching I was getting sponsored ads from a company called Dange Dover. Their ads were for bags that have all these great compartments to keep you organized throughout the day. Well my brain instantly went to “if they are advertising on Instagram and Facebook and I’ve never heard of them then they are not legit”. Am I right? Well I continued to get these ads and they also started to come up in my google searches. So I then started to just google them and see what I could find. I found some other bloggers did reviews and reading them really influenced my decision. I was originally looking to get the 15-inch tote (because that was what was being shown in all the ads) but based on the reviews and people showing what they carried in it, it seemed too small for my needs. I was looking around their site and that is when I found the Landor Carryall. So once I decided upon the Landon Carryall I was now left with the decisions on color and size. I really liked the white bag and though it looked chic but when thinking reasonable a white bag is not the way to go. Again I went with the black option, coming to realize that most of my past work bags have been black. Now on to size, this one was hard for me because they do not have any pictures on their site with people comparing the different sizes. The do have the dimensions listed but it is always nice to see a person comparison. The medium seemed to be too close in size to my Longchamp and I did not want to order it and have it be too small, so I went with the large. I was also able to Google a discount code and I believe I got 20% off. Delivery of the bag was superfast, so fast in fact that they never even sent me tracking. I ordered it on a Saturday afternoon and it was at my house on Wednesday when I got home. It was a pleasant surprise, but I am the type of person that likes to receive tracking and track every package like a mad woman. The bag was packaged great, bubble wrap outside and in, zippers all covered with tissue paper, and the bag itself was inside a dust bag, nice touch! At first glance I was nervous that it was too big, especially since I am a small person. After asking about 10 people what they thought and if it was too big, everyone thought that it was a great size. I decided I would try it out the next day at work and see how it went. Well I have now been using it for only about a week but I love it and it fits everything I need and more. I am sure anyone who is interested in the bag can read the features online but I wanted to tell you my favorites and least favorite: Favorite: Air mesh zip top pouch I have mine attached to the key leash. I keep my work wallet that has my t pass and work badge in there as well as my car keys. I have to tap my t pass and work id to be able to get onto the train and into the office and I don’t even have to remove it from the mesh pouch. I know that it is safely attached to my bag and I won’t lose it. I had an incident a few weeks ago when I lost my work wallet and it was not fun to say the least. Least Favorite: The mesh side pockets It’s not that I dislike them, they are just not what I was expecting. I usually take a smoothie with me to work in the mornings in my bag and drink it when I get to work. My Longchamp was so packed that the cup would stand up on its own in the corner (I could also do a whole post on my new smoothie cup). On Dagne Dovers product page for this bag it has a water bottle on the pocket. I guess I was just expecting something with more structure, but it does say mesh pockets so I guess that’s on me. Overall the bag is working out great for me, I carry so much with me on the daily, something for another day’s post. With this bag I could carry more if necessary and I am excited to use it on a few upcoming trips as my carry on!
