We crashed hard after day 1. We had an early wake-up call on day 2 (Shelby's 26th birthday!!). Our parking time at Muir Woods was like 8:45 and it was about an hour away. We woke up, got ready and had breakfast at the hotel. The hotels "urban" fee included breakfast for all of us and it shockingly did not disappoint. Okay, so we hopped in the car and headed for Muir Woods. We got to cross the bridge again! Then the fog - apparently named Karl. I am so glad that I was not the one driving- you could not see your own hand in front of your face! We were not even sure if the over the side of the road there was water or land. It was land we were able to see it on the way out. Also the roads! So many switchbacks on a road that should not have been for 2 cars. Anyways we went to wander around and look at the trees. Well, Ms. Birthday girl Shelby had other ideas. We ended up going for a SEVEN-mile hike. 50% of the group likes to hike 50% it's not our fav thing. All I will say is I am not sure if short legs and hiking are made to go together. But it was a beautiful area and I am actually really happy that we got to explore it as much as we did. We went so far that we did not see a lot of people which was nice. It was like we were in Jurassic Park or Tarzan! Since we ended up hiking 7 miles we were there awhile! From there we drove over to Sausalito for lunch. We put our name in at Barrel House Tavern and it had a long wait. We walked around the town while we waited. Then we ate and after all that hiking we were HUNGRY. On our way back from Sausalito we drove up to the lookout for the Golden Gate Bridge. OMG was it worth it and we snagged a great parking spot! Apparently, we all had the idea to take pictures of the others from the back (this was not planned we saw this once we were sharing pictures) From this lookout spot, Stephanie saw a beach and wanted to go put her feet in the Pacific Ocean. It ended up being such a great stop for us. The beach was full of dogs and we made friends with the cutest 2-year-old boy. Stephanie went full on feet in, the rest of us just went with our hands! From the beach, we decided to do a driving tour of San Fran! We hit up Lombard Street only to realize that driving down it is fun but you can't get a good picture of it! O well, ya live and ya learn! We saw the Painted Ladies and had our Full House moment. Then headed back to our hotel to shower and get ready for dinner. This is where my pictures stop. We all showered got ready and went to dinner at Don Pisto. We had great tacos and margaritas!
Again we crashed once we got back to the hotel and were up early for our flights home. We made the most out of our 48 hours in San Francisco and had an amazing time!

Gullfriends Weekend Our college mascot was a Gull and they were everywhere on this trip. Be prepared for a whole lot of pictures! (I stole pictured from everyone on this trip so credit goes out to Shelby, Stephanie and Steph!) Not the kind of Gulls above but these Gullfriends: We did a girls weekend in San Fran. Stephanie, Steph and I flew from Boston on Friday night and met Shelby who flew from Colorado. This time together means so much more now that we live across the country from one another. It takes a bit more planning but it is well worth it. By the time our flights landed, we found each other, got the rental car, and made it to our hotel it was 3 am PT. That means it was 6 am EST, it was a long trip but we made it, we crashed and prepared for our early wake-up call. We got up at 7 am to get ready for our first activity. We had tickets for Alcatraz at 8:45. Alcatraz was amazing. You take a short ferry ride out to the island and it had a great view of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge (be warned we got about 57 different shots of the bridge throughout the weekend!) Then you get a headset and it is a guided walking tour throughout the prison. I learned so much about the prison and some of its prisoners. On to lunch. We wandered down the Pier where we found lots of shops and restaurants. We grabbed lunch at Fog House which had a great view of the water and some really good seafood. There was a Lefty store and I got to educate my friends on the hardships we leftys face with everyday items. HA Then the SEALS I mean there were so many. SO MANY all just hanging out it was incredible to see. Up next Sonoma for a wine tasting. As a last minute decision, we rented a car and it was the best thing ever, props to Stephanie for figuring this all out. It gave us way more freedom, not to mention most of our activities were about an hour away from our hotel! We drove to Sonoma and got to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. We went to Viansa Winery and it did not disappoint. We got to do a tasting of 4 wines (they gave us a 5th just because) and walk around the property. It rained on our drive there but it cleared up once we got there and we even eventually got to see a rainbow. We really packed each day with so many actives but we never felt rushed. After we left the winery we drove to Napa just to drive by some other wineries then headed back to our hotel before dinner. We picked this restaurant that was around the corner from our hotel, Pescatore. From there we made our way over to Ghirardelli Square where we of course had to get some sundaes to round out the day! Phew, that is the end of day 1!
We headed back to our hotel and crashed because we had another early wake up call the next day. 3/14/2018 0 Comments 3.14Happy Pi Day!
I personally do not like pie the pastry, I did like memorizing pi as a middle schooler 3.14159265359. But a backery around the corner from my office was selling slices of pie for $3.14. I went for the walk with some coworkers and got myself a brownie. 3/12/2018 0 Comments national nap dayNow, this is a day that I can get behind. I love naps! Love them! Apparently, as a child, I did not like naps so apparently, I am making up for it as an adult. I can sleep in on the weekends do a few errands and then still come home and take a nap. My only problem with national nap day is that it should be on a weekend because what person has time to take a nap on a weekday?
For reference below are two pictures of me napping from college. My roommates were starting a collection of pictures of odd ways I fell asleep but these are the only two I could locate easily. I think that is is really important to note that this is not my bed. This is not even my bedroom it is my suitemates room! |
