I was just thinking about how much Halloween changes for you throughout your life. For example today I woke up extra early, no not because of the excitment for trick-or-treating, but becasue I had a finance exam and wanted to get some extra study time in. I remember being little and being so excited to get to pick my costume and most of the time it was Halloween themed like a witch, vampire or werewolf. As you get older and are in high school you are too cool to dress up and get candy so you just hang out with friends. Luckily one of my friends birthdays is in October so we still found a reason to dress up. Then you get to college where Halloween is not a night to get candy but an entire weekend to go out and party. And yes, with an entire weekend you need multiple costumes (my roommates and I would take turns with what we were being). Costumes go from cute, too scary to very small amounts of clothing. I think my costume from when I was 7 had more material to it than the one I wore during college. Then after college, well at least for me Halloween has been about what can I wear that's a clever costume but also one that is warm and comfortable. What can I wear that includes leggings and a sweatshirt as opposed to what can I wear that includes heels and makeup? This year I opted for a Halloween themed t-shirt that I actually have been looking forward to wearing. And tonight I might get Chipotle's $2 boooorito (if they still do that, I have to do some Googling), pass out candy and watch some Halloween movies! Halloween changes with every stage of life and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed each one. I don't think I could handle a multiple night party with multiple costumes, instead, I will be enjoying The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and maybe a scary film to round the night out!
